On December 20, 2021, an expert video bridge "Russian-Kazakhstani Dialogue: Milestones of Strategic Partnership" was held, organized by IIA "Russia Today", IA Centr MSU and KazISS under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
As part of the video bridge, the following issues were discussed:
- Russia and Kazakhstan in the international arena - joint counteraction to new risks and challenges;
- Public dimension of Russian-Kazakh cooperation - experience of interaction between civil society institutions in border regions;
- New formats of economic integration - interaction within the EAEU during a pandemic;
- Humanitarian cooperation - how to give it a new impetus for development?
The video bridge was attended from the Russian side: Sergey Afontsev, Deputy Director of IMEMO RAS, Daria Chizhova, Director of the Information and Analytical Center for the Study of Socio-Political Processes in the Post-Soviet Space of Moscow State University, Igor Savin, Senior Researcher at the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
On the Kazakh side, the speakers were: Ermukhamet Ertysbayev, statesman, Rakhim Oshakbayev, director of the Talap Center for Applied Research, Sanat Kushkumbayev, Deputy Director of the Kazakhstan Institute for Strategic Studies under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The KazISS expert, in particular, noted that the current year was not easy for both countries. Along with this, the dynamics in relations between our countries, the intensity of visits, contacts at the level of sectoral ministries and at the expert level are obvious. Within the framework of bilateral allied ties, there is a large common agenda between Kazakhstan and Russia, especially in the field of security. 2021 passed under the sign of the 30th anniversary of Independence, in this context we are all in the same status, but with different results we are approaching the milestone date. At the same time, our leaders have repeatedly said that Russian-Kazakh relations are of a standard nature, the KazISS expert summed up.
