On the 3rd of December, 2019, the Ministry of foreign affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan held a regular meeting of the Public council on the activities of the RK MFA (PC RK MFA).
During the meeting, four main topics were discussed: the results of the special operation «Zhusan» and the action «Rusafa», the participation of Kazakh experts in foreign events dedicated to reforms in Kazakhstan, the organization of anniversary events in 2020 (1150th anniversary of Abu Nasr al-Farabi, 175th anniversary of Abay), as well as the work of the project office «Adaldyk alany» of the RK MFA.
In his speech, the Chairman of the PC RK MFA, Chairman of the Committee on international affairs, defense and security of Mazhilis of Parliament of Kazakhstan Mukhtar Yerman noted the main tasks of the Public council - to develop proposals and recommendations on topical issues of foreign policy, the use of PC as a permanent dialogue platforms active participation of all its members in the work of the PC.
Ambassador at large of the RK MFA Stanislav Vassilenko in his speech presented detailed information on the humanitarian actions «Zhusan» and «Rusafa», initiated by the First President of Kazakhstan - Elbasy Nursultan Nazarbayev. These actions are dedicated to the return of Kazakh citizens to their homeland from war zones-from Syria and Iraq. Thus, this year 4 stages of operation «Zhusan» were carried out, within which 595 Kazakhstani citizens were evacuated from Syria in January, May and June, including 33 men, 156 women and 406 children (31 of them are orphans). As part of the «Rusafa» campaign, 14 more Kazakh children were returned from Iraq on November 27.
Director of the Institute for security and cooperation in Central Asia Shavkat Sabirov spoke on behalf of civil society. In his report, he shared the results of the participation of Kazakh experts in foreign events dedicated to reforms in Kazakhstan, where he emphasized the recently organized «round tables» in the leading think tanks – Atlantic Council, CSIS (USA) and Chatham House (UK). «The participation of the expert community is an important tool in explaining the political situation in the country»,- the expert said.
In his speech, Deputy foreign minister Roman Vassilenko informed the participants of the meeting about the work on the plan of RK mfa to celebrate two anniversaries in 2020 (1150th anniversary of Abu Nasr al-Farabi, 175th anniversary of Abay). He noted that an important event in the organization of events was the decision of UNESCO to include the celebration of the 1150th anniversary of Abu Nasr al-Farabi in the international calendar of commemorations for the next year. To celebrate the 175th anniversary of Abay, the MFA’s Plan includes about 250 multi-format events in 70 countries.
Executive Secretary of the RK MFA Nurlan Seytimov told in detail about the work of the project office «Adaldyk alany» and its activities aimed at eradicating domestic corruption and increasing the level of trust of citizens to the state body.
During the meeting of PC RK MFA held an active discussion on the above topics to Council members and also adopted a number of proposals and recommendations that were reflected in the PC Report.
