International Conference “The SCO and Security Problems in Central Asia” (Almaty, October 5, 2005) was organized by the Kazakhstan Institute for Strategic Studies under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan jointly with the Institute of World Economy and Policy at the First Kazakhstan President Foundation and Representative Office of Friedrich Ebert Foundation in Kazakhstan. Kazakstani and foreign participants’ reports, sounded on conference, shown various aspects of cooperation of the states-participants and observers of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization on security issues in Central Asia; features of modern geopolitical situation in Central Asia and on the Eurasian continent, new threats and challenges of regional and international security, main directions and perspectives of cooperation on security problems within the framework of this organization, problems of increasing of the SCO’s efficiency, trade and economic cooperation, are included in materials.

The given research is devoted to the most current processes of development, occurring today in China. In work the perspective role and a place of China in system of the international relations are consider and the basic tendencies of economic and military-political development of the Peoples Republic of China are also reveal. The given analysis carried out with account of unknown growth of China economy, its scale military modernization and in the whole its global rise, occurring on a background of stagnation in economic development of the leading states of the world that forces to comprehend more deeply more the processes, occurring in this country. Work mentions disclosing of some new aspects in development of the PRC. Authors do the forecasts concerning development of those or other tendencies in China.
